Life is more than just reaching a destination; it’s about the journey we take. This idea resonates deeply with me. We all have our "mountains" to climb, after a point I decided I needed to start taking something away from these "adventures". (Please insert the eye-roll emjoi here) After a few more "mountain hikes" presented themselves into my life, I just came to accept that there will always be a mountain to climb.
That’s why I chose the name "Relentlessly Unfinished." It captures the essence of continuous improvement and reminds us we are never truly "finished." In this post, I want to explore my thoughts behind being “relentlessly unfinished” and how embracing this concept has transformed my life in ways I never imagined.
The Beauty of Being Unfinished
Being "unfinished" represents a state of ongoing evolution. It encourages us to accept that self-improvement never truly ends. This mindset embraces a beautiful identity that adapts to our experiences, challenges, and achievements.
Life isn’t perfect, and that’s okay. The pursuit of perfection often leads to frustration and disappointment. For example, studies show that 70% of people who strive for perfection experience anxiety. By embracing our imperfections, we can develop resilience. Acknowledging our flaws makes room for growth, learning, and renewed purpose.
Embracing Change as Part of the Journey
Change can be intimidating, but viewing it through the lens of “relentlessly unfinished” changes its narrative for me. Instead of seeing change as a disruption, we can view it as a crucial part of our development. It can start to turn into an obession of sorts; how am I going to evolve from this hell?!

The Art of Direction
You can’t be “relentlessly unfinished” without direction... Ok... That's not true. If you know me, you know I am not great at being a planner or having direction at all... Hot Mess Express is HERE! But there are studies that prove the secret lies in direction that will evolve with us. This will keep us engaged in our personal development and you have to start somewhere.
As I started on this journey, I took time to reflect on my experiences and started to think of how I could turn the not so great into something amazing. What did I want to take away from this? What do I wish went differently? What feelings did this bring me? What did I learn from each of these mountains? As I started reflecting on these lessons and what I took away from them, I realized growth is always within reach, no matter how high the mountain may seem and there's no reason to walk through hell and come out empty handed.
Overcoming Fear of Failure
Fear of failure can halt progress, especially when pursuing new mountains. This fear often paralyzes us. However, once I started the mindset of being "relentlessly unfinished," I began to see failure as a stepping stone rather than an obstacle.
Failure is not the end; it’s part of growth. It creats lessons in resilience and problem-solving. For instance, starting this. I don't mean to blow anyone's mind here or anything but English was NOT my best subject. I am going to make mistakes here and the thought of that paralyzes me. I've actually tried to start this up about 17 times and couldn't ever reach the point of sharing... until now!
Cultivating a Growth Mindset
At the heart of being “relentlessly unfinished” is the idea of nurturing a growth mindset. The part that I love most about this "relentlessly unfinished" is that we know that this will always be work we need to put in, we know that the work will always continue. This mindset enables us to embrace challenges, learn from feedback, and view effort as a path to our desitination or our next mountain. It reminds us that our abilities can grow with hard work and determination.
Lessons from My Journey So Far...
My path toward embracing being "relentlessly unfinished" has taught me valuable lessons that I try to use daily.
Self-Compassion is Key: Recognize that everyone faces life’s ups and downs. Being kind to yourself during challenging times fosters resilience.
Celebrate Small Wins: Every step forward matters, regardless of size. Recognizing even the smallest achievements fuels motivation and encourages further growth.
Adaptability is Strength: Life often presents unexpected challenges. Being adaptable opens doors to new experiences that can lead to wonderful growth.
Hope for the Future
The journey of being "relentlessly unfinished" is filled with hope. As we continue to grow and change, we should remind ourselves that striving to become our best selves is an ongoing process. Each experience, whether joyful or devastating, contributes to our development.
Looking ahead, the possibilities are endless. With each new endeavor I embark upon, I feel an excitement for growth. I welcome whatever lessons and transformations come my way, knowing that I am always evolving.
Embrace Your Unfinished Journey
Every day presents a new chance to learn, adapt, and evolve. Rather than focusing solely on reaching the finish line, let’s celebrate our journeys and all the variations they bring. Being unfinished means we are ALIVE and continuously growing.
I am so over the moon that you are here for the “relentlessly unfinished" adventure. Embrace the journey ahead and savor the experiences that will shape us along the way. Your story is still unfolding—let it unfold beautifully and I AM HERE FOR IT!
